the reliability analysis of bolted connections is mainly aiming at the connection with a single bolt. However
all of the bolted connections in actual projects are composed with more than one bolt
which reliability analysis is few or none. For this issue
this paper established a model of its reliability analysis of bending and bearing capacity which is based on the code for design of timber structures (GB5005-2003) in China
and the corresponding analysis program is compiled
with applying the improved JC method which takes the corresponding influence of mutual random variables into account. According to numerous data analysis
it is presented that reliability index of bending and bearing capacity of bolted connections. When
the reliability index of multi-bolts connections and a single bolt connection is the same
which overall average value and coefficient of variation are 4.0023 and 0.0968; While
the overall average value and coefficient of variation of multi-bolts connections are 5.8681 and 0.1230
respectively; And when linearly changes among the range of this paper
the overall average value and coefficient of variation of multi-bolts connections are 4.15941 and 0.0893
respectively. The results presented in this paper will contribute to modify the current code for design of timber structures in China.
